New Patient VO2 Max Test

Your VO2 max is a key metric for assessing aerobic endurance and cardiovascular health. Your initial oxygen consumption threshold can be used as a benchmark to evaluate how much (or little) your training regimen is moving the needle on your physical health.

What is a VO₂ Max Test?
A VO₂ Max test measures the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize during peak exertion—offering a window into how well your heart, lungs, and muscles work together under stress. It’s a powerful tool not just for improving endurance, but for tracking cardiovascular resilience and supporting long-term vitality as you age.
What to Expect
Here’s what to expect during your VO₂ Max test—from prep to your results.
• Before Your Test: You’ll receive prep instructions in advance. We typically recommend fasting (including caffeine) for 4 hours, avoiding intense exercise, steroids, or cold medications for 12–24 hours, and wearing athletic clothing with proper running shoes.
• During the Test: You’ll run on a treadmill while wearing a specialized mask and heart rate monitor. Speed and incline increase gradually until you reach your max effort, allowing us to measure oxygen use, exertion thresholds, and metabolic output in real time.
• Review & Apply Your Results: Immediately after the test, a clinician will walk you through your results. You’ll leave with a detailed VO₂ Max report and a clear understanding of how to adjust your training for better endurance, recovery, and cardiovascular efficiency.
What Can This Support?
• VO₂ Max Score: Learn how efficiently your body uses oxygen during exercise—a key marker of heart and lung function.
• Cardiovascular Fitness Level: Understand your aerobic capacity and endurance potential compared to age and fitness norms.
• Training Thresholds: Identify the heart rate zones where your body shifts from fat-burning to peak performance.
• Recovery Insight: Gauge how well your body handles physical stress and where it may need support.
• Long-Term Health Indicator: Use VO₂ Max as a predictive metric for cardiovascular healthspan and aging resilience.
