What to Expect
Ketamine has a growing role in pain management, especially for chronic pain conditions that have been resistant to other treatments. Ketamine works on various receptors in the brain, including NMDA receptors, which are involved in pain signaling. By blocking these receptors, ketamine can interrupt the transmission of pain signals and modulate pain perception. When other traditional pain management methods have failed to provide relief, ketamine is indicated for conditions such as neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), fibromyalgia, migraines, and certain types of cancer-related pain. This can be a great option to offer some of our long-term patients.
